Pizza Sauce Recipe with Fresh Tomatoes | Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe

how to make pizza sauce at home

My love for homemade condiments and masala powders is undying and effervescent. I feel like a scientist working in her lab as I perform several trial and error experiments in my kitchen trying to find the perfect balance. The samples of sauces, dips, and spices lay across the table in tiny bowls for the purpose of tasting and comparison. My husband, who has a very refined palate comes and tastes each sample as I stand on my tippy toes waiting for him to declare which ones tastes the best if at all there is one. You see, when you cook so many samples at a time trying to determine what proportion of ingredients yields the most desirable results, your senses tend to get saturated in the end. That’s why you need a fresh perspective of an outsider. By that, I mean an outsider to the kitchen. That’s one benefit of being married, ladies. You can use your husbands as guinea pigs! So today we are talking about pizza sauce recipe!

Store-Bought vs. Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe

Trust me; I have tried so many brands of store-bought pizza sauces. But they don’t appeal to me a lot. They have a strange synthetic smell and flavor, which I guess is the work of added preservatives. I stopped trying any more brands of pizza sauce and decided to take things into my own hands. I was determined to make a pizza sauce from fresh tomatoes; not tomato paste, not crushed tomatoes, not canned tomatoes. The fresh tomatoes make such a wonderfully wholesome and delicious pizza sauce. This pizza sauce recipe has the essential Italian flavor; garlic, oregano, bay leaf. Since we do not get fresh basil here, I had to skip it. Add a few leaves of fresh basil if you find them to accentuate its glory.

My pizza sauce recipe is quick and simple; very straightforward with a few ingredients. Pizza sauce tends to thicken upon cooling. So we need to keep it a tad bit thin so that it is still spreadable upon cooling. Also, it should not dry up completely when you bake the pizza. I recently made thin crust veggie pizza using tortilla and it was a hit among my friends. You can check out the recipe here – How to Make Thin Crust Veggie Pizza?
