Isn’t it funny how food can make you reminisce old times and make you nostalgic? Fruit Custard recipe (फ्रूट कस्टर्ड़ रेसिपी) is very close to my heart. It reminds me of my childhood. I have grown up relishing bowls and bowls of this yummy, creamy, fragrant sweet-dish throughout the summers. It was customary at my place; a huge bowl of fruit custard paired with raspberry jelly sitting it in fridge at all times. What a glorious way to enjoy fruits after meals!

flavors of custard powder

Traditionally, custard is prepared using milk, fresh cream, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. This one is an eggless custard recipe since the custard powder used is vegetarian.

I have previously shared the recipe of fruit salad with milk. It has evaporated milk. This recipe, on the other hand, doesn’t need you to reduce the milk. You just boil it and thicken it using the custard powder. It thickens the milk and lends it a beautiful cream color and vanilla-ish custard flavor. Custard powder is available is several flavors like vanilla, pista, strawberry, rose, etc. The vanilla one works the best for this fruit custard recipe.

Both fruit salad with milk and fruit custard are quick and easy dessert recipes. They are so decadent and have an alluring fruitiness that sets them apart from the conventional, overly rich desserts. Your guests would love it if you make if for occasions like parties and get-togethers.

consistency of the fruit custard recipe

The custard milk is thick yet has a flowing consistency. This one is not a gelatinous one since we are not adding any agar agar or gelatin to it. It’s a rich and smooth yet light fruit custard recipe that has thickened milk because of addition of the custard powder.

Hi Niks. Custard powder is made from cornstarch and other such thickeners. It has a nice flavor to it. You get a pudding like texture when you add it to milk. You can find it easily in grocery store.
