A kitchen without yummy snacks feels so incomplete. I have a dedicated cabinet where I like to keep different kinds of tidbits, savory and sweet, Indian and western, packed in little containers. They are a savior when light hunger strikes you in between meals, for evening tea time and when someone visits. Placing a snack platter in front of guests reveals your sophisticated sense of hospitality. Not to mention the guests get to enjoy delightful snack recipes that you make with so much love.

Cheese crackers recipe is one of my favorite snack platter ideas. The inspiration behind these cheese crackers is the Cheeselings that we get in India. The cheese crackers recipe doubles up as delicious a delicious appetizer too. I love to enjoy it as munchies sometimes with some chilled beer.

The homemade cheese crackers recipe is so much better in terms of texture, flavor and taste. Plus, there are no added preservatives or artificial colors. Also, they are a pretty light snack. I have used byadgi mirchi for this cheese crackers recipe, a type of dried red chili that’s medium-hot. It’s extremely flavorful too, not just full of heat. If you could find it in a grocery store, that would be awesome. Otherwise, you can add the good old regular red chili powder. If you want it to be even milder, paprika would serve the purpose just right.

You can give these cheese crackers to your kids in tiffin along with the lunch, like a snack for school. Or you could make them as a picnic snack recipe. Apart from tea, these pair up well with fruit, like grapes. If you have a tea party and you are looking for Indian party snacks ideas, cheese crackers are a crowd-pleaser, out-and-out.

picking the cheese for the cheese crackers recipe

Sharp cheddar and parmesan cheese are ideal for this recipe. I use them in the ratio of 3:1. However, it might not be possible for everyone to procure them. So, I tried making them with processed cheese that’s abundantly and easily available. And trust me when I say that the crackers turned out absolutely scrumptious.

Yes. Otherwise they won’t get crispy. I left some cracker unpricked to see what happens. They were not good texture wise. They had a soft texture like bread and not appetising at all.
